“His role will be very big and very important because his batting will come at a crucial time when the team is either stuck or in a good situation,” Rohit explained.

The Baroda all-rounder brings a proven track record to the tournament. During India’s successful 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, Pandya contributed 221 runs at a strike rate of 135.2 while also claiming 8 wickets with an economy rate of 7.2. These performances demonstrated his ability to influence matches in multiple ways.
Pandya’s value lies in his dual capabilities. His batting typically arrives during middle overs when matches are finely poised, while his seam bowling provides Rohit with tactical flexibility throughout an innings. Rohit also addressed wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s approach, offering direct feedback about his on-field behaviour.
“No advice for the gentleman. Just bowl quietly. And please step back. You can’t appeal on every ball,” Rohit remarked.
The comment suggests the captain wants greater composure from his spinner during high-pressure moments.
Selection Considerations
India faces decisions about their spin combination heading into the tournament. Playing both Kuldeep and Varun Chakravarthy together would limit the team to two specialist seamers, making balance a consideration.
